Happy Friday, everyone! Sorry about missing Wednesday, I got a couple of projects that couldn’t be turned away. It’s weird, I went this long without really being able to find much freelance work and now I’ve got so many options I don’t know what to do! It’s awesome!
But anyway, on to today’s project: A NEW LOGO!
Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m glad to tell that I’ve got FOUR new posters for you today, although before you get all excited know they’re part of a set, so their fairly similar.
So the screens were a disaster. I don’t even want to show you guys. It was a nightmare. I sent Speedball an email about it with pics and everything to try to get some answers. Nothing back yet.
But anyway…on to the next challenge! Seeing as how it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought a VDay card would be appropriate, so that’s what I worked on all weekend!
OK, so I know I said two posts today, but as I was making this I came up with options and I need your guys help. So, I’m going to show you guys the choices for the business cards and you’ll help me pick, then Friday you get to see the screen printing process and the design of a Valentine’s Day gift.
So I discovered today that when I set my Tumblr to auto update the next few posts over my busy weekend I somehow did it wrong, and as such I am a little behind. To make up for it…TWO POSTS ON WEDNESDAY!
But anyway, here is my post that was supposed to be on Friday.
Page layouts. Magazines and such. Not something that I have a lot of in my portfolio. Not for lack of ability to do it or anything, just not something I’ve done a lot of. That changes starting now.
I learned a lot doing this piece, mainly that I really have to work on my InDesign skills more. It took entirely too long to lay this out, and it’s a relatively simple piece. But, that being said, I did it the right way and set up my paragraph and header styles and everything is based on a 12x12 grid. I think it came together nicely.
The font I used for this piece is Quicksand from the site Font Squirrel. It comes with seven (7) weights and I used the book weight for the copy and the dashed weight for the header.
I’ve become a big of Font Squirrel lately. All of their fonts and families are free for commercial use, so I’ve spent a lot of time perusing them. Expect to see an article running down my tops on the site. You can bet Quicksand will be on it.
But anyway, without further ado, here is the full two page spread, minus all the fluff.

Hello, readers, and welcome to The SkinnyD Challenge! This is a blog I will be keeping to keep myself working and creating. The idea behind things is simple.
